~Hot Pink Smokey Eye Using Wet 'n' Wild "Spoiled Brat" Palette~

“Color possesses me. I don't have to pursue it. It will possess me always, I know it. That is the meaning of this happy hour: Color and I are one. I am a painter.”
-Paul Klee

I don't do a lot of makeup/cosmetic posts because by day I'm a freelance makeup artist and I try to focus on my other passions here by night. However last week a Wet 'n' Wild palette caught my eye. It had 3 fierce shades in it. A stunning hot pink, a sparkly black (a PERFECT dupe for MAC's "Black Tied") and a fabulous silver. I actually usually hate silver eyeshadow but this silver is to die for. I decided to give the palette a shot. And since it was literally cheaper than a cup of coffee if I didn't like it wouldn't be a huge loss. But I did like it. Loved it actually. The pigmentation is INSANE and it blends beautifully. The only drawback is that there is a significant amount of fall out but that isn't a huge deal to me as I know when doing a smokey eye it is always better to apply your "face" after doing your eyes.

The other day I finally came up with a idea for a look using the palette and really loved how it came out so I decided to share. The best part of this look is how inexpensive it was to create. Other than the "Spoiled Brat" palette the only other eye products I needed were a liquid liner, a shadow primer/base and mascara. I kept with my drugstore product theme by using Palladino liquid liner and Maybelline Falsies mascara.

I loved the look I created and got favorable feedback so I decided to share the pix and give you brief instructions in case you want to recreate it for yourself.

1) Prep your eyes with a lightweight moisturizer and a eyeshadow base. I prefer Urban Decay Primer Potion but feel free to use your favorite primer.

2) Dip a mid size paddle brush into the hot pink color and apply to eyelid in a patting motion without going to far into your crease. I spritzed my brush with a lil bit of water for a more intense look but because of the great pigmentation of these colors it's really not necessary.

3) With a pencil brush using the black color draw a sideways V (like this: <) on the outer corner of the eyes and draw a line thru your crease. Blend out with a fluffy blending brush.

4) Apply a thin line of liquid liner to lower eyelid and go over with the excess left on the pencil brush.

5) With a bigger paddle brush apply silver color to the brow bone and blend to smooth out any harsh lines. With a smaller brush lightly apply the same silver color to inner eye to create some brightness.

6) Apply mascara. You can also line your upper eyelid with some liquid liner and add some false lashes to up the drama. I personally wore a pale pink lip with this look but you can amp it up with a hot pink lip. MAC's "Girl About Town" is a great hot pink and would compliment the hot pink in the palette perfectly.

Lately Stila cosmetics is a force to be reckoned with. Ever since the Stila/Estee Lauder "divorce" the maker of my beloved "Kitten" and "Brown Sugar" lip glaze has been consistently blowing my mind. ~Hair Bling... Can I Just Call It Tinsel?! Either Way...I Want It!~

Bling

noun

1) showy and expensive jewelry or other ostentatious accessories
2) flamboyant or ostentatious showiness; glitz

Bling. Oh how I DETEST that word. Hate it. However... I love love love this product!! For the rest of this article I will substituting the word "Tinsel" for that other word that makes me gag...

I have come across a hair trend that I adore and it's perfect for Halloween or the holidays. Hair tinsel!!! It's basically like extensions but COLORFUL!!! I like it so much because you can go as subtle or get really dramatic with it. I personally think I'm going to get some really subtle "Peek-A-Boo" strands in "Sizzling Gold". They can purchased by hair professionals or your average Glamour Whore looking to spice things up.

A few facts about the product from the company
"Hair Bling":

*Made from poly ‘Thai Silk’.
*It is thin, incredibly strong and can withstand chemical treatments, such as colors, highlights and perms.
*It can be washed, blow-dried, straightened, curled and combed through.
*Can withstand heat up to 450 degrees.
*Tie it onto only 1-2 strands of hair.
*It last in hair for 2 weeks to 6 months.
*Perfect for the client that wants that something extra but does not want to bleach, color, maintain or pay a fortune.
*Easy, inexpensive and cutting edge.

Pricing:

Each package costs $10.00 for 100 strands. If you charge for each strand on the higher end of the scale at $4.00 a strand, that is an earning of $390.00!! Not bad for a $10.00 investment and only minutes of your time.

The company does offer a savings for larger orders. Contact them for more details.
hairblingsales@gmail.com

They will have also put together some of our more popular colors and combinations into packages for quicker and easier selection.

Shipping is only $2 on orders of one or more individual colors and free on any of our packages. Expedited shipping is available for an additional fee.

~In The Wing Of An Eye~

“The soul that can speak through the eyes, can also kiss with a gaze” -Gustav Adolfo Becquer

As a makeup artist/beauty blogger, the questions I get asked most frequently involve eye liner application. Applying eye liner correctly can be tricky. The trickiest look of all is the "winged eye". It took me years to perfect it. Well...years and a fabulous "how-to" video I came across awhile back. Before I came across this priceless video tutorial I was able to apply a winged eye on my clients and myself but it took some time and was super frustrating. This tutorial makes it so simple anyone can do it. I was going to keep it my little secret but since one of the purposes of this blog is share my beauty knowledge I have decided to share it with all of my readers. You're Welcome;)

You will only need two items for the perfect winged eye look:

Surgical Tape. Any brand will do and you can find it at any drugstore (Walgreens, CVS, Harmon, Rite Aid, etc).

Eyeliner. You can use whatever brand you prefer and chose the form that works best for you such as liquid, cream or pencil. My favorite is
Chantecaille's Le Stylo $26
