I don't do a lot of makeup/cosmetic posts because by day I'm a freelance makeup artist and I try to focus on my other passions here by night. However last week a Wet 'n' Wild palette caught my eye. It had 3 fierce shades in it. A stunning hot pink, a sparkly black (a PERFECT dupe for MAC's "Black Tied") and a fabulous silver. I actually usually hate silver eyeshadow but this silver is to die for. I decided to give the palette a shot. And since it was literally cheaper than a cup of coffee if I didn't like it wouldn't be a huge loss. But I did like it. Loved it actually. The pigmentation is INSANE and it blends beautifully. The only drawback is that there is a significant amount of fall out but that isn't a huge deal to me as I know when doing a smokey eye it is always better to apply your "face" after doing your eyes.
The other day I finally came up with a idea for a look using the palette and really loved how it came out so I decided to share. The best part of this look is how inexpensive it was to create. Other than the "Spoiled Brat" palette the only other eye products I needed were a liquid liner, a shadow primer/base and mascara. I kept with my drugstore product theme by using Palladino liquid liner and Maybelline Falsies mascara.
I loved the look I created and got favorable feedback so I decided to share the pix and give you brief instructions in case you want to recreate it for yourself.
1) Prep your eyes with a lightweight moisturizer and a eyeshadow base. I prefer Urban Decay Primer Potion but feel free to use your favorite primer.
2) Dip a mid size paddle brush into the hot pink color and apply to eyelid in a patting motion without going to far into your crease. I spritzed my brush with a lil bit of water for a more intense look but because of the great pigmentation of these colors it's really not necessary.
3) With a pencil brush using the black color draw a sideways V (like this: <) on the outer corner of the eyes and draw a line thru your crease. Blend out with a fluffy blending brush.
4) Apply a thin line of liquid liner to lower eyelid and go over with the excess left on the pencil brush.
5) With a bigger paddle brush apply silver color to the brow bone and blend to smooth out any harsh lines. With a smaller brush lightly apply the same silver color to inner eye to create some brightness.
6) Apply mascara. You can also line your upper eyelid with some liquid liner and add some false lashes to up the drama. I personally wore a pale pink lip with this look but you can amp it up with a hot pink lip. MAC's "Girl About Town" is a great hot pink and would compliment the hot pink in the palette perfectly.

“Color possesses me. I don't have to pursue it. It will possess me always, I know it. That is the meaning of this happy hour: Color and I are one. I am a painter.”
