"Model's Own" has created the world's most expensive nail polish available for purchase at Frost Of London's jewelry store for a staggering $130,000. "Gold Rush" (yes, that's what they named it) comes in a bottle that features a cap hand-crafted from yellow gold and has a total of 1,118 diamonds inlaid. The color of said polish? Wait for it... Gold. Shocking. Apparently it glistens, sparkles, glimmers...and all that jazz. *Rolls eyes* You detect a bit of smart ass oozing through this post? So perceptive... Look, I'm a diamond loving Glamour Whore but if I'm spending $130,000 of my or someone else's hard earned money for a bottle of nail polish it's not going to be some tacky frosty gold color, it's going to be a custom shade with lifetime refills named after moi. And it damn well better be chip-proof. That's all I'm saying. Here's the part that cracks me up. For $130,000 you can purchase "Gold Rush" Couture from Frost Of London but for $5 you can purchase the "Gold Rush" Ready To Wear version at www.modelsownit.com I. Just. Can't.

~Actress Giada Hansen's "Arbonne" Launch At The Empire Room~

Actress/Model and close personal friend Giada Hansen is branching out by becoming a consultant with Swiss skincare/wellness company "Arbonne". Offering everything from vitamins to anti-aging products to baby products to men's grooming products to cosmetics, all of which are completely all natural, Arbonne sounded like a interesting company and I was intrigued. So obviously when she informed me of her new endeavor and invited me to her launch party at The Empire Room, I couldn't wait to come out to support my fabulous friend and learn more about it. The venue she picked was perfect, The Empire Room, located on the ground floor of the Empire State Building, is a cozy yet sophisticated lounge with a authentic Gotham vibe to it...loved it. It was a great night. Giada's Arbonne NY/NJ/CT network/team is a fun, powerful, dynamic group of women that are well informed and enthusiastic about their product. It was pleasure learning about the company from them. I wish Giada the best of luck with her new career, I'm sure she will ridiculously successful and a great asset to Arbonne.

I was able to test out some of the products and came up with a list of my favorites:

1) Makeup Primer $36 In my opinion one of the best I have ever used:

2) Beautiful You, Beautiful Glow Set $98 I think I will be ordering this set as a early Christmas present to myself...it looks fab. And it contains the aforementioned makeup primer.

Contents: Makeup Primer (1 fl. oz.), Sheer Glow Highlighter (1 fl. oz.), Blush (Blossom net wt. 0.16 oz.), Translucent Loose Setting Powder (Net wt. 0.3 oz.) and Ar-bonne Limited-Edition Makeup Bag.

3) Ginger Citrus Sugar Scrub $32 As I write this post I am sitting here smelling AMAZING and my skin is sinfully soft and smooth. I am in love with this product...

4) RE9 Advanced Regenerating Toner $35 This toner from their anti-aging line is so refreshing!! It's light, energizing and smells delicious but not "perfumed" in any way. Perfection...

5) Perfecting Liquid Foundation with SPF 15 $40 I loved this foundation. It provides excellent long lasting coverage without feeling or appearing heavy and cakey.

~"Abs In A Box"?! File This Under: NO!~

I never thought about a double standard in the area of beauty/grooming until I came across "Abs In A Box". Yeah, I said "Abs In A Box".

This kit is exactly what it says it is. It's actually abs in a box. Or at least the products men need to give/get the illusion of abs. When I first saw it I rolled my eyes and thought "What sad bastard would buy this?!" and then I caught a glimpse of my makeup trunk and it made me think... As a professional MUA I have an entire trunk filled with products to cover things we have, create things we don't have, and take years off of our appearance. And by "we" and "our" I mean...women. For the most part anyway. It's the norm for me to provide these services to men also...at work. On a shoot/stage/film set makeup and grooming on a man is completely acceptable but other than those scenarios makeup on a man, in my eyes, is so weak. Just plain un-sexy. Which is such a double standard because as a woman I use all of my professional products on myself (in everyday life) creating illusions and masking flaws, and I have left more than my share of lipstick on men's collars... But double standard or not, if a man's abs rubbed off on me I would be filled with disdain. I would be seriously turned off and it's not right but it is what is. So please fellas...only use this product for Halloween. And even then...only if you must.

Ok, by now you all already know about my cupcake addiction/obsession... For those who don't: I am addicted/obsession with cupcakes. Bad.
So, combine my favorite holiday with my drug of choice and I am in heaven... Godiva has the most beautiful, delicious looking Valentine cupcakes...I may seriously lose my mind over these.

Jo Malone "Red Roses Fragrance Chronicle" Set:

For the past 14 years Jo Malone has released this set for Valentine's Day. The 4 piece set is centered around Red Roses cologne and the other 3 (Moroccan Mint, Leaf Ice Rose and Honeycomb) can be worn alone or layered for a unique and elegantly sexy scent... I love this... I adore the idea of mixing the 4 scents and seeing how many fab scent 'recipes" I can concoct...so fab.

~Sephora Vending Machines?! Hmmmm~

Sephora is installing product dispensing vending machines in 20 JC Penny Stores that are too small to have a Sephora store within... Sounds like something that please me right? Maybe. Kinda. Sorta. I guess. I'm not nearly as excited about this new avenue of purchasing cosmetics. There are many factors to take into consideration. What about people who need to test the product on their skin tone before purchase? What about consumers who have questions regarding a product? What about makeup virgins who need to be educated and guided? Well, these vending machines are only going to carry 50 of Sephoras top sellers, so people with the needs I mentioned would be better off in a free-standing Sephora. These machine will be strictly for the convenience of people who already know exactly what they are looking for. But... What happens when the machine makes a mistake and vends perfume when you wanted and pushed the button for a lipstick? I would be LIVID...

I think my real issue with this idea is...IT'S TOO MUCH!!! As it is there is a Sephora EVERYWHERE. These JC Penny stores , deemed in desperate need of a vending machine, are most likely in a mall that already houses a Sephora store...I'd bet my life on it. Free-standing stores, small stores within bigger department stores and now vending machines?! Sephora has gone the way of Starbucks and made itself way to accessible. What's next? A Sephora in a Starbucks?

Ok, I'm stepping down off my soapbox to do my job, which is to relay the facts. So here goes...

As I mentioned already, the machines will carry Sephora's 50 best selling products including items from companies such as Bare Escentuals, Dior, Philosophy and Korres. Zoom Systems will be operating the machines which will accept credit cards and debit cards. The company is re-evaluating the project come spring...

~5 Questions For... Wilhelmina Model Joslynne Hood"~

It's an exciting day glamettes!!! Today, I am launching a new "Glamour Whore" weekly feature!! "5 Questions For..." is going to be a Q & A with people involved in the beauty/fashion/entertainment industry. Every week it will be a different person giving us their opinions and favorite products. I'm really excited about this.

As for who should launch the feature? I thought long and hard about that. I decided on Joslynne Hood, a gorgeous young model from Camden NJ. Since I already know J Hood, I can personally attest to the fact that she is not just another pretty face, she is also cooler than the other side of the pillow... Career wise she is at a very exciting place, having just been signed to Wilhelmina Models, the icing on the top of a already impressive career. A young star on the rise struck me as the perfect choice for "5 Questions For..."

So with out further ado...

"5 Questions For... Wilhelmina Model Joslynne Hood"



1) Do you have a signature scent? And if so what is it and why do you love it?
My signature scent is Zest Energy... lol. I'm not really a perfume kind of girl so you wont find any in my house.
Years ago I did receive this really nice perfume that I absolutely adored but, I can't remember the name.
It comes in a sphere shaped bottle and the top half is gold and the cap is gold and round as well. If you know
the name let me know, I need it asap. (I don't recall the name of it being English)



2) False Eyelashes... Love em or Hate em?
OH M GEE I LOVE THEM!!! Though I have yet to master putting them on and getting them super close to
my lashes I love them. I actually just bought 20 pair from China for like 3 bucks. By the end of these 20
I should be a master.

3) If you had to nominate 3 beauty products into the "Beauty Product Hall Of Fame" what would they be?
1. Dermablend- absolutely the bomb and after being a Sally Hanson lover for years I will never go back Dermablend rocks my socks.



2. Noxzema- old product and still great



3. Covergirls Lash Blast mascara- It actually does work and doesn't make my eye lashes fall out like other products



4) How do you keep your skin so beautiful?
Funny thing is I don't think I have the best skin but MUAs always tell me I have nice skin.
I guess its the Noxzema and this Neutrogena mask scrub I use on heavy rotation.

5) What is your preferred "Red Carpet" look for yourself?
I have yet to hit the red carpet so I'll have to postpone this answer.
