“Elegance is not the prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future.”
-Coco Chanel

In recent years my passion for Chanel had waned a wee bit. It just didn't make my heart pound like it used to... But this collection is UNBELIEVABLE! Uncle Karl really outdid himself this time. Even the invitation to the runway presentation was gorgeous...

~What They Wore: Elle Fanning At LA Premiere Of "Somewhere"~

“There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in.”
-Deepak Chopra

12 year old Elle Fanning rocked Valentino on the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of her latest film "Somewhere". She looked gorgeous but....Valentino?! Valentino Couture to be exact! At 12 years of age?Maaaaaaannnnnnn!!! When I was 12 I was forced to wear frocks from "The Young Folks Shop" in Ansonia CT. I'm not hatin but...omg...so unfair.

Who: Elle Fanning:
What: The "Somewhere" premiere
Where: Hollywood, CA
Dress: Valentino Fall 2010 Couture
Shoes: Valentino Fall 2010 Couture
Hair/Makeup: Very light makeup (she is 12 after all) and a "Heidi" braid completed the look. Actually the braid was uber cute and was a great choice as it seems to compliment the outfit.

If I Have To Choose Between "Guilty" Or "Bleu" ...I'd Rather Be Guilty~

“Film is one of the three universal languages, the other two: mathematics and music”
~Frank Capra

The fashion industry's love affair with film continues... Chanel and Gucci both enlisted noted film directors to produce mini-movie commercials for their latest fragrances. Martin Scorsese directed/created a commercial for Chanel's new men's cologne "Bleu" and "Sin City" director Frank Miller enlisted actress Evan Rachel Wood to play a femme fatale in a commercial for "Guilty", Gucci's latest scent. Both are obviously quite impressive but "Guilty" is definitely more my style... Martin Scorsese is a favorite of mine but in my opinion... Frank Miller did the damn thing this time.

~Wow. Branding On A Whole Other Level...And Your Forehead"

"Your premium brand had better be delivering something special, or it's not going to get the business." ~Warren Buffett

I have a million and one thoughts running through my head right now. Even as I type I still don't know exactly how I feel about this... I'm gonna wing it...

Let's talk branding.

First let's define the word...
Brand(ing): A mark made by burning with a hot iron, as upon a cask, to designate the quality, manufacturer, etc., of the contents, or upon an animal, to designate ownership;

Cattle just came to mind...

I'll get to the point. Central Saint Martins design student Ryan McSorley created, a final project, "Skin By Chanel" is a method to brand your skin with the infamous Chanel "C's". Yes, I'm serious. His theory being, that people who spend the money on Chanel skincare products want the world to know they primp and groom with Chanel. He figures when women (or men) buy a Chanel product, for the most part the world knows due to the logo on the merchandise and he feels you should get the same distinction with your skincare products. He feels it's just another form of product branding..BUT...it is actual branding. How do I feel about this? Hmmmm... I don't know yet.

How it works:
A headband with a silicone Chanel logo on the underside needs to be worn overnight, which then leaves an imprint of said logo visible for up to a few hours. Sounds more like "skin memory" to me. Like when you remove clothing that was a tad tight and have those unsightly marks on your skin for a little while.

I guess I feel it's simply a cute idea. Nothing more, nothing less. However I don't think it's going to be the women who buy and use Chanel skincare products that purchase this system. Nope. It's going to be the teenagers and girls in their early twenties who maybe own 1 Chanel bag (bought by Mom and Dad or a generous boyfriend) and a few Chanel lipglosses that will run around with the Chanel logo imprinted on their forehead...in the suburbs.

** I feel I should disclaim that I have branded myself in a sense...I have my lip print (my actual lip print) tattooed in pretty hot pink ink on my hip... But that's different!! What?! It is...xoxo

"There have been several Duchesses of Westminster but there is only one Chanel!"
~Coco Chanel

The ad campaign for Chanel's "Coco Rouge" lipstick collection is stunning. Simply stunning. Vanessa Paradis, who is the face of the line and was shot by renowned photog duo Mert & Marcus, looks amazing...utterly amazing. My favorite part of the campaign is naming all of the 30 shades in the line after significant details in Chanel's lifetime. Pure stroke of genius. "Coco Rouge" will be available March 2010.

"The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.” -Coco Chanel

V Magazine's Issue #62 features a Chanel clad Natalie Portman looking AMAZING.

To celebrate the issue V enlisted young uber-talented filmmaker Stephen Smith to create "Coco In Motion", a stunning stop-motion footage that highlights the eternal chicness that is Chanel... Basically the video is my version of porn...

"High heels were invented by a woman who had been kissed on the forehead."
-Christopher Morley

It has been a very good couple of years as far as shoe design goes...and it just keeps getting better. In the past few years shoe designers have taken shoe design to new heights, they have made it a bona fide artform. Kirkwood, Louboutin, Dior, Chanel,Camilla Skovgaard, the list is endless. I could go on and on... However I will limit it to 2 collections that I am overly impressed with today...

Casadei, the Italian luxury footwear brand has named it's Fall 09 collection "The Red Carpet Collection" and it's so very appropriate. If any shoe was born for the red carpet, it is any one of the shoes in this decadent and sexy collection. The colors, fabric, studded heels, pleats, buckles, and feminine details of these shoes are simply classically stunning.

Casadei Fall 09:

Suggested Lip Color:
Stila Silk Shimmer Gloss in Kitten

Now for the 2nd collection...

The 2nd collection that has left Glamour Whore speechless (Thank God I can still type;) is actually a collaboration. 3.1 Philip Lim and Christian Louboutin teamed up for The Spring/Summer 2010 3.1 Philip Lim collection. The result? Omg...omg...omg...omg...OMFG. Get what I'm trying to say? See for yourself...

3.1 Philip Lim Spring/Summer 2010

Suggested Lip Color:
Chanel Luminous Satin Lip Lacquer in Coromandel

Ok, so I know I said I was only going to write about 2 collections...I lied. I'm sorry, it's a terrible thing...lying. But....I'm a shoe junkie. My name is Glamour Whore and I'm a shoe junkie. I need a 12 step program. Actually, no I don't I like being addicted....

Anyway, collection # 3 that has me dreaming about spikey stilettos is...

Kirkwood for
Rodarte Spring/Summer 2010. (1 of my favorite shoe designers AND one of my favorite couture designers...together...*sigh*)

Suggested Lipstick:
MAC Black Knight...of course.
