“Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection… the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery.” Ame Van Iden, Applegate's rep, said in a statement released to the media.
Christina Applegate, the 36-year-old Smathana Who? star who previously won an Emmy for her guest role as Jennifer Aniston's sister in Friends, had a family history of cancer. Her mother, actress/singer Nancy Lee Priddy suffered both breast and cervical cancer. Applegate has been advocating for breast cancer research. She was scheduled to appear on Stand Up to Cancer, a one-hour long fund-raising event to be aired on ABC, CBS and NBC on September 5.
