Steve Kazmierczak, also Stephen Kazmierczak, 27, has been identified as the gunman in the Northern Illinois University (NIU) shooting on February 14 which had caused 7 people including himself to lose life. Kazmierczak was the former Vice-President of the university's Academic Criminal Justice Association. Steven Kazmierczak currently attended University of Illinois, school of Social Work after graduating in 2006 and had been widely regarded as a stand-out student during his time at NIU.

Kazmierczak walked into a biology class in Cole Hall through the back door and opened fire in the classroom Thursday afternoon, killing six and injuring 15. He then fatally shot himself.
Kazmierczak was carrying a shotgun and two pistols.
